Acute Pain

Acute Pain is directly related to tissue damage and is generally a fast but intense feeling of pain, usually followed by a longer lasting aching pain.

Current treatments include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, which have the effect of reducing inflammation when used over a period of time as well as relieving pain.

Pain is the number one reason people seek healthcare treatment. In the US, more than 50 million people suffer from chronic pain, including both inflammatory and neuropathic pain. Treating acute pain more effectively may reduce the further problems of chronic and ongoing pain.
