Business Strategy

Synosia has an impressive pipeline of six clinical-stage drugs for psychiatric and neurological disorders, acquired through strategic partnerships with Novartis, Roche and Syngenta.

The strategy has been to acquire compounds with preclinical safety, a strong scientific rational and phase I human data. Licensing in compounds at this stage enables us to build on years of pharmaceutical investigation and extensive safety and, in some cases, clinical databases.

A lot is already known about these compounds, and we have scientific rationale to test these compounds in multiple targets per indication and multiple indications per target. With the innovative use of biomarkers and imaging in small, efficient clinical trials, we will establish a better understanding of a drug’s action earlier in development and will know if the right amount of drug is getting to the right part of the brain for optimal efficacy.

Over the next few years, our focus will be on an ambitious clinical development program run from our two centers of operation, Basel and South San Francisco. We have selected four lead compounds and are testing them in anxiety, Parkinson’s Disease and drug dependency, and by the end of 2008, all four will be in phase II studies.

Our commercialization strategy will be to market on our own in smaller indications and to seek strategic partners for bigger markets.
